What is security rating and how does it basically
affect a player in EvE concerning Concord Police?
EvE is built where every system in the game has a security rating ranging from
0.0 to 1.0. This system rating affects you in relation to what your characters
security rating is (-10.0 to +10.0). It breaks down as such concerning your
security rating in relationship to system security.
(this is close but probably not perfect)
Your security rating is +10.0 to -1.9 : You have the privilege to fly everywhere
without concord interfering with you.
Your security rating is -2.0 to -2.4 : You are restricted to 0.9 space and lower
by Concord police.
Your security rating is -2.5 to -2.9 : You are restricted to 0.8 space and lower
by Concord police.
Your security rating is -3.0 to -3.4 : You are restricted to 0.7 space and lower
by Concord police.
Your security rating is -3.5 to -3.9 : You are restricted to 0.6 space and lower
by Concord police.
Your security rating is -4.0 to -4.9 : You are restricted to 0.5 space and lower
by Concord police.
Your security rating is -5.0 to -10.0 : You are restricted to 0.4 space and
lower by Concord police. You are also deemed an Outlaw, enabling anyone to open
fire on you without sentry gun/Concord interference or loss of security rating.
The difference between 0.5 secure space and 1.0 secure space is the fact that concord does respond slower in 0.5 space then 1.0. Some players say they do not, but I have verified this myself by seeing it as well as in depth discussion with GM's and Dev's. Concord police do respond slower in 0.5 space then 1.0 but they still come. What the response time difference is varies based on many factors so the GM's an Dev's say (like being in a asteroid belts vs right next to a gate). Good luck figuring that one out. Rule of thumb is - plan on getting shot in ANY secure space regardless of response time.
What makes sentry guns different from concord
police?
Sentry guns are NPC corporation owned weapons of law enforcement. Even though
they will be used to guard stations and jump gates, similar to concord police,
they still belong to an NPC corp and not concord. Thus your faction standing
to a specific NPC corp can get you shot by that corps sentry guns if your standing
falls to low for that corp, and that's usually -5.0. Sentry's will also engage
anyone who engages in combat within there range in automatic defense to protect
there station or jump gate no matter what your faction is..In a sense they will
shoot at you as Concord police would but only to protect their corps assets.
If both sentry guns and concord are in the area of your crime expect both to
open fire.
What is the range of sentry guns?
Sentry I - 150km and you must be 151km away to not activate one.
Sentry III - 250km and you must be 251km away to not activate one.
Can I attack a player that has a bounty placed
on him and that person is "wanted", in secure space?
No, the player bounty system is not recognized
by Concord police forces. A player can have a high bounty and still fly
safely in secure space if his security rating is high enough to be in it.
What do the colors and icons and flashing of
things mean on the overview?
Right click your mouse, while hovering over the little ARROW next to the word
"overview", on the overview itself and select settings. This
will open the "settings for the overview" and here you will see all
the meanings of colors and icons on your overview and also change how they work
for you if need be. If you do not know much about EvE and are a newer player,
it is best you do not adjust those settings until you know what they do exactly.
