How
do I get a new ship once I have bought it.
Once you have obtained that nice new shiny first frigate or industry ship, you
must go get it. The golden rule is you never fly more then one ship at a time.
The best way to pick up a new ship is to purchase a cheap shuttle (usually 10,000
ISK). Take the shuttle to pick up your new ship at the station your purchased
it from, because when you get the new ship, you leave the old ship behind. Once
you arrive at the station with the shuttle you must assemble the new ship, then
you can activate it and fly it away. Then leave the shuttle there for later
use possibly or reprocess it and fly your new ship home to your home station.
Remember you can only fly one ship at a time.
What do I do when my ship is blown up and I am
in my escape pod?
Having a ship destroyed for the first time can be a harrowing adventure. The
escape pod can "warp".... so warp to the nearest station and dock
and at that time CCP/EvE will give you a free "new player" ship. The
same ship you started the game with. If you have another ship at that station
you will be given that ship automatically. You can then trash the escape pod
or keep it for memories.
What is ship insurance for and why should I have
it?
When your ship is destroyed in EvE it can cost allot to replace it. If you have
purchased insurance at a station from a ship insurance facility, then when your
ship is destroyed you will get ISK/Money returned based on the insurance pay
out for the type you purchased. There are various levels of insurance. The more
you pay for, the more you get back if the insurance is paid of course, when
your ship is destroyed. Insurance last 12 weeks in EvE and will need to be renewed
if you have not had your ship blown up before the insurance expires in that
12 weeks. In the event you have not purchased insurance, EvE/CCP is kind enough
to automatically insure your ship for 40% of its value upon you purchasing it.
The max value of insurance is based off the mineral cost to build the current
ship you have insured.
Please note: many-o-player have been set back or
even quit EvE because they were not smart enough to purchase insurance or just
to lazy to get it. A battleship can cost 100 million ISK. Without insurance
you lose about 60 million ISK.
Insurance is a must for you if you wish to not lose ISK/Money in EvE at rapid
rates upon ship destruction.
How do I increase my CPU or power grid on my ship
to mount more modules?
To increase CPU you will need to learn electronic skills and get CPU modules
such as co-processor's and mount them in your ship. Usually these modules require
some power grid to gain more CPU.
To increase Power grid you will need to learn engineering skills and get power
grid modules such as reactor control units. Usually these modules will require
some of your CPU to bring online
How do I equip a new gun on my ship and/or use
the ship fittings and modules?
To mount a new gun or module onto any ship you must dock at a station with a
"fitting room" facility. Open the fitting facility and then you will
see all your module slots on your ship and the ships complete stats. This is
the best way to mount modules as you can see in real time how it will affect
your ship and the ships stats. You can also mount and un mount modules in space
but at a drastic penalty to your capacitor. When you mount a module in space
you will need 95% of your total Capacitor to bring it "online" if
you mount the module in space.
How do I expand my cargo hold?
There two ways to expand your cargo hold. The first is simple...buy a industry
ship or bigger ship that has more cargo hold space. The second is to obtain
"cargo expander" modules and mount them in your ship to increase the
ships base cargo hold size. Some cargo expanders can increase your cargo hold
by 27%+ but can be very costly at that percentage of cargo expander module.
How do I make my ship get around faster?
To increase ship movement speed which is tracked in m/sec or meters per second
you must increase your "Navigation skills" and then also mount Navigation
type modules onto your ship, such as afterburners and/or micro warp drives.
These navigation skills and modules will increase your ships speed thus decrease
your time to get places, be jammed, jump, warp, and all ship movements. You
may also increase your ships "agility" thus affecting turning and
stopping times with various modules and skills and can dramatically lower warp
alignment times in doing so.
Another method is to bookmark locations very wisely.
For example. When you warp to a jump gate, fly right past it, 12km
from the vector you warped in from. Then bookmark that spot. Next time you warp
in from that vector, your ship comes right out on top of the jump gate and you
can instantly jump. This has gained the terminology of "instas".
This method, of wisely book marking your warp points, can be used at gates,
stations, and even cargo containers.
